~Why do you make films? To help people connect on a deeper level; hopefully with others and themselves.
~Who/what inspired you to make films? I've always seen pictures when I heard music and heard music when I saw pictures. I have imagined videos
in my head as far back as I can remember.
~What do you like most about film making? Getting to know my subjects. They teach me a lot.
~What do you dislike most about film making? I never feel like I am done. I never feel my work is good enough.
~Whose work do you watch frequently and why? I love David Lynch. I connect to darkness in the human psyche and the bizarre. I also love the Coen Brothers
because their scripts are amazing.
~Four things you do that gives you a break from filmmaking: I teach art to kids for a living and they bring me great joy. I rock climb. I create music. I bike.
~What is the most significant contribution made by short independent films to cinema and society? That's hard to answer. Many have merits. Some make us
laugh, some make us look deeper into ourselves. The key is that they are NOT controlled by corporations or money.
~If you could save one film for yourself while all films in the world were being destroyed which would it be? Donnie Darko. I am entertained and intrigued by
the idea of time travel and parallel universes.
~If you had to choose one film to send out into space for possible future communications with other worlds/beings which would it be? Joni Mitchell: Woman
of the Heart and Mind.
~If there is one film by you that you would like people to watch which would it be? I'm not a good judge. My most watched video is One Last Visit, a
retrospective about Dixmont State Hospital.
~What is your next project? It'll be one of three possibilities: a documentary on the oldest record store in Pittsburgh, a recreated romantic dream I had
several years ago (no dialog) or a nightmare I had about facing imminent death.
